Do-rag, which seems to be stuck somewhere - according to UPS it is still in TEXAS USA Could it be the victim of the 'Credit Crunch' we'll see. Certainly it would help. Some kind sole turned off the air con yesterday and despite it being turned on again by a) Emma and then b) Paul on both occasions it was turned off again after 15 minutes. Result temperature 26Cº and one very incapacitated Chris! Today, fortunately, the room is 21ºC inside - nice one :)

The weeekend of the 16th turned out to be a fairly bad one with Lina shouting at Lai-yen quite a bit. On saturday mid day ish I could barely stand up. This did not prevent me from sending an email to one of the social workers that I saw last week with some info for the Ocupational Therapist who saw me on friday. I came into work this morning ( 18/005/2009) and could nearly stand, unaided to walk for which I am thankful. The 'Access to Work' thing is going on an it would appear Lancashire County Council are going to buy me a chair I have not done much on my 'media' but my original LaCie 1TB drive has seemigly started to work so it is now on my, rather old now, 1GHz windows 2000 advanced server.

Had a visit yesterday from sosial services re direct payments and vouchers - we will see... Today went down to tmstc and did not have a 'fun' time! ( symptoms - WEEK07) The' access to work' thing is still going on and now I need 3 quotes for a stairlift which I am in the process o getting from Acorn; SABER; & DOLPHIN I have been working hard trying to remain active and am now off to bed

Firstly my symptoms
I ought to say here that this morning after my 2 hours 'spamming' I managed 10 squats; ten punches with my left arm at 45°; ten at 90° and ten at 135°. I then went to bed and at 07:50 managed to dress without holding my legs.
It has to be said however I am very sleepy.

I woke, late, this morning at 02:00. Given that I had been asleep since 20:00 I regarded 02:00 as being some two hours late. I have now found, and am listening to, the bbc reith lectures which were given in 2003 by Profesor Vilayanur S Ramachandran. I will grab these soon to keep them on my site

I still Think I am anonymous on the web - the only time a friend of mine said "youre on face book" actually he was wrong - but would that I could! On the down side the peopl that owned the land were imprisonned! those were the days... Anyway I am having a good day and I will continue updating my MONR OES page - much of which I cannot verify - but memory iis a weird thing On a seperate note you used to access tags thus http://just-do-it-chris.blog.co.uk/?tag=monroes wheras nowv you can use http://just-do-it-chris.blog.co.uk/tags/monroes/

I have also used the 'wayback' machine to find a new format for my symptoms page - the only drawback with this is that you have to manually scroll to Wk48 Thu 26 Feb, 2009 for todays entry - I am going to persist with this though as it seems to load much faster than the previous one

I have also improved on the joystick by disableing the mouse buttons (to limit the number of ' Phantom' clicks I get when tired) with the use of some card rammed under the keys and using AutoHotkeys to transfer the left; right and left double click to F9; F10 and F11 respectively. This seems to be working well and is alot cheaper than an en-abler joystick which comes in at £240 ex vat!.

Monroes Remembered...

1989 - Summer At this time things were stirring and Dave Griddle and myself were out clubbing doing your clubbing thing and listening to there was this 'new' sound to some of the tunes that people that knew told us was house music. A crowd of people from 'runshaw colledge' came to 'Park Hall' for a bit of a dance on wednesday and the dj (phill meredith) was playing the usual club music of the time ( not reallly my thing - but there were some nice girls (Joanne and Alex; Manj and Narindo you know who you are! :) ) Dave and I heard that there were things called 'convoys' that took you to outdoor parties and we tried in vain to find one... A very personable young lady told Dave "You should go to the Hacienda in Manchester and eventually we went one day. Phil, who after all had a job, spinning club drivle, to do had not really prepared us for what was about to happen. People were being admitted to Fac51 (The Hacienda) and Dave and I were dancing away in our clothes (Me in a suit!!!!)and then , after what seemed like 30 minutes, the lights came on; the music stopped and people started to leave. I thought it must have been a fire alarm and started to head towards the door. Dave checked his watch and we had been in the club for 7 hours! What!??**&&? no really 21;000 - 04:00 REALLY IS 7 HOURS! Well that was it for me and home to Preston to spend most of the following week absolutly shell shocked. It became known, at work, that dave and I were going out to 'Acid House' parties and we fell in with Sophie guinne pig and Mary. Black

1990 We continued goig to 'The Park' and then Andrea Cullin told us that a friend of her's was going to start DJing at ' Monroes Country Club' in Great Harwood. Gilly (Simon Gill-less) had quite a following and on Wednesday nights had arranged with the owner of the club to bring some much needed revenue to the club, bringing in as he did, some 200 or so fans of his music. Dave and I went to see what Andrea was talking about and after a bit of a hunt found the door to a small club and, arriving early, went for our first visit early in january 1990. As was my wont, I started helping clear up n the mornings, became a friend of the owner, and his son Simon. Dave and I went about becoming 'Acid Heads' - although Dave and myself adopted a ' no Drugs' policy. To my knowlege, Dave and myself did not take anything. I know Dave tried ecstacy a couple of times but neither of us needed to regularly - the music completly 'blew our minds' and we became devoted followers of Gilly - going to Hebden Bridge Labour lub' and other strange places to fill our ears with trance music and such. Back in 1990 the dance music scean had not fractured as much as it has today - I was only vaguely aware of 'Trance'; 'Garage'; 'Hard Core' and so on. It as all just 'House' and people who were unaware of the scene mockingly called out "Aceeeeed" to us in the streets.

We had tried to find 'sundance' and failed and then 'Set End' was closed and 'Monroes' took off. Fontunately for Dave and my self I had got to know Simon Really well as we both were Scuba divers and I was able to get into the club through the hundreds of 'party goers' outside the club - trying to get in.

This morning started well... Managed to dress without holding my legs - should have gessed the world was snowy - thewriting was on the wall and I had had a good sleep thanks to the falling temperature this has just started and I am going to lose my mind!! Faithless are awesome! - see you in 10 minutes! I am glad, on reflection, my life before MS was so full - I may have under-achieved at most things I did but whatever it was I tried my hardest - be it playing mind games with myself to working. After all it has given me a wide range of experience that many used drugs to achieve - and at the end of the day and I cannot definativly prove this, my experiences where mine, not a drugged induced trance!
I guess one big advantage is that it makes switching from one thing to another faster. Take amphetamine sulfate , for example, and your drugged up for hours, wheras I would go to Monroes at 18:00 on Saterday Night and be sailing at Delph by 14::00 the next day.

This track often made me cry...and then on to a rave; or climbing or...
I do hopr that this 'playing with my mind' is something that lai-yen can appreciate. Knowing the feeling of trance; calm and depression comes from ones own mind and not some drug cocktail you have imbibbed makes you feel at once; superior; humble; depressed and eager to experience the opposite when you enter a rave... Those were the days...

Luxury is - Not being bothered

It is so nice to be well enough to 'Not be bothered' to do something. As I have often said MS realy draws up the distinction between 'can't be bothered' and 'can't do' and today I will have a can't be bothered day :). I am at work now having updated my symptoms page using my http downloading s/w and narrowly averted losing the javascript action in my new symptoms page. Melvin Bragg is pontificating about Charles Dawin this morning so I will try to nab it this afternoon (if I can be bothered :) ). It can be taken as read that I have also released any 'false positives' in our spam bin and am now going to think of what to do next.
I have also updated my home page email address so a veritable torrent of email is now expected ....

I was implyinging that I had solved the table 'jumping script' Well not so! - I had simply stopped the script working altogether! I pratted about with it for some time last night and because I am rather 'dumb' when it comes to javascript I could only acertain there IS aproblem when it comes to trying to jump to an id WITHIN the table (id=wk40) for example - so please let me know what the fix is. My tunes have stopped now so I will use my WORKING media selector to try another

and both these links are to a page where the javascript is messed up by me
However the jazascript formatting does not work I think this does work. I changed the style property for td elements to 'WHITE-SPACE: nowrap;' and added a style=text-align:"left" to the last cell in the table to get this

A Day in the life...

Just lost my last post - and all so profound and eloquent! -I would like to think it had nothing to do with this but probably not.
I am now listening to Tori Amos so things are likely to stabalise I went to Moore Park this afternoon with Lia-Yen and Lina - apperently I was on my feet for 40 minutes! As Joni Mitchelle says "don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till its gone" - How true! On that note my hearing when I was about 10 years old was good (20KHz tops -I'll have to check now) but it is not now - although not yet giving me real problems.It is late now although I slept from 6:45 till 23:45 but never-the-less bed time!

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING???

Well a month and a day since my last post and I have not been entirely idle..Well what have I done...Firstly I have been 'Migrated' so things are much improved - NOT! although to be fair it is just different - I have played a bit combining my mouse and the joystick I was bought. The most effective is to use the mouse as a pointer and the joystick solely as a 'button' pad for left and right clicking . I must say, however, that some £200 is rather dear for a 'button pad' - there must be a joystick out there which has all the features on my 'wish list'
I am also trying, at the moment, to get to grips with the 'new' editor here and resisting the temptation to go 'it's crap' - simply because it is different.
During my spell away I have found various things.

In no significant order:

the wayback machine - which has led me to update my symptoms page
a nifty css list by dynamic drive - that has started me ordering my media files

although this latter one is and probably always will be, very much a work in progress

I have now sorted out the navigation to and from the symptomspage so here is a precies of the week. I should also add for the record this page is tagged twice, the two taggs being seperated by a comma as I discover before.
Once as '08p35better' to tie in with my symptoms page and once as '08p35'
to tie in with my time sheets - this latter link I will activate now -done
My isp has also sorted out their dns server so now I can go from my home PC's blog page to this blog - before I only had access from my work's pc using a different DNS server

I have just lost a good dollop of post due to me being 'mentally (un)allert' - Hi Ho

I have cleared the spam we attracted twice now since 0:45 this morning and was listening to 'Incantation'
I was also 'rabbitting on' (and feeling quite pleased with myself) about recordiing a good piece from the bbc about 'Akram Kahn'You can go here to see various media in ie6/media player 9
Having just replaced the 'dollop' I am now back to squre one and solong as I do not mess up again I will not chastise myself too much-
Today (Thursday),so far, is not too bad - long may it remain so...

Steady as she goes

May not be so steady come tomorrow - we will see.
I went to hospital to get an x-ray of my throat while I was swallowing which involved me imbibing some not too unpleasant fluids with barium to trace what was going on.
I now have a slight twinge in my stomach and I hope against hope this is not the forerunner of a bout of stomach upset, the last of which saw me paralysed – Oh joy.
I filled in my symptoms page and I hope to be fit to compete it again tomorrow.
I got an e-mail today from Peter, in which he told me he had met Mike Jackson who remembered me from 30 years ago when we both worked for the North West Road-Construction Unit. I guess this ought to go on ‘the timeline of my life’ which I keep meaning to start. When this becomes an active link I will have started it!
I am off to bed now (21:40) and if all goes well in the stomach department I may continue tomorrow

Well, actually in hawaii,usa. who's bothered? - I listened to the first hour or so of the beebs coverage and eat my sandwich ( the salmon and pork being out of date) and scone ( plain not cheese) and cleaned the oven tray. Lina, while she would not have given me out-of-date food, would equally not have cleaned the tray.
The disproportionate effort I have to employ to do the simplest tasks is made infinately harder by the fact she seems quite content to live in conditions which I regard as disgusting - hi ho

Well as my symptoms page shows, last week for the most part, was a good one.Unfortunately today has proved my down fall. Last night was OK, infact smewhat better than normal with an ascent of the stairs, two steps at a time, possible. Today however has not been a good one

Today being Friday I thought That my symptoms page needed updating.
I rose this morning at 05:00 and checked the iso files downloaded from the net - they seem OK, especially f-secure from here and bit defender from here and ascended the stairs 1x1 after nearly (but not quite) managing to get my legs into my knickers without holding my legs.
By 08:00 when I left for work I managed 2x2 stairs! - bodes well

I have tried to search for 'all posts that have taga annd tagb', to no avail - high ho however this one is given two tags so can be accessed from my 'symptoms' page by two different tags - try it! (when writing the post if you want to tag it twice seperate the tag values by a comma in the 'tags' box in the edit screen ie in this case 08p30,tagex1)

After a very long time I have finally discovered ho to move about in this blog - the key is tags and this should take you to the first entry - that is 'year'p'profess weeek' i.e. 07p10 which will tie in with my symptoms table

Welll that was a long break - I am writing this from work where, at last I have got video through the firewall - thanks to flash. I have got this rather good Lennard Cohen wich will gode me into buying some of his stuff. Since my last writing I have basically been OK - true there have been bad days but no paralysis - and all days have, at some time, seen me ascend the stairs at home.
Most days have seen me struggle to dress myself but I have gained flexability through out the day and, after a sleep, have got upstairs one at a time.there have been no entries in my daily ' how is it going log ' mainly due to my new job of 'spam releaser' which has taken all of my time. Indeed I will go back to 2000 spam messages once I finish this but at least I have a plan...
Working from home has been a god send and having recorded my every move has proved usefull.
One big hope for my lack of ability to get exercise was heard on the world service last tuesday - I will not hold my breath but I'll let Dr. Hann know - and so back to fruit salad - then spm
